NEWS!
-> Kan Mi-youn, a former member of the female dance group Babyvox, has returned to the singing stage as a solo artist with her album “Refreshing.” The new album features various genres of music, with the ballad “My Ex-Girlfriend” composed by Bang Shi-hyeok as its title song.
“I have always liked ballad songs more than dance songs. Whenever I go to a karaoke, I sing ballad songs,” Kan said. She also talked about how she prepared herself, physically and mentally, for public response to her change to a ballad singer. “I try to be indifferent to people’s response, but it is a few good fans of mine that give me energy and strength to go on. I will be able to say that I have made a successful comeback if there is even one person who takes comfort from my songs, as I do so from other singers’ songs.”
Kan may have had the hardest time in her life attempting to go solo after the group’s agency decided to disband the original Babyvox in 2005--some eight years after its formation in 1997--to create another Babyvox with new members. She says she was hurt by disappointed fans and afraid of going solo. She still feels nervous when she sings or gives an interview alone.
She says she could go on due to encouragement from her close friends such as singer Sue, Yujin, Soy, Park Ji-yoon, Rena and Shim Jae-hee. They were even featured in her new album.
“We are friends who often get together for coffee or drinks. They have always encouraged me, saying that I am capable of going solo,” Kan said. “We promised to do a project one day while working together for my new album this time.”
Noh Hong-choel, a talkative entertainer who became close to Kan by appearing on a TV show program together, was also featured in the song “Kiss.”
Her album contains three remakes of Chinese hit songs because she plans to work in China, Taiwan and Thailand. Her agency is discussing the matter with Chinese record company Star Win Culture Communication Company and Thailand’s GMM Grammy, with the aim of beginning activities in China late this year.

->Singer Seven, who will release a new album next month, will give a solo concert October 28 after four months off.
The concert will serve as the finale of the 2006 Seoul Music Festival, which kicks off October 8 for a 22-day run. The festival, the second of its kind, will feature various artists who will stage performances in succession to revive the stagnated domestic music industry.
The festival received a favorable response from audiences last year, as they were able to see the performances of singers Lee Seung-chul, Shin Seung-hoon, Rain, BoA and TVXQ for 35,000 won per ticket and enjoy beer free of charge.
Seven’s upcoming concert carries special significance because the singer is preparing to debut in the United States and plans to focus on his overseas activities in the near future rather than perform in Korea.
Last month, Seven enraptured Japanese audiences when he performed in Tokyo and Osaka as part of the World Tour marking the 10th anniversary of YG Entertainment, his agency.
At the upcoming concert, the singer will sing songs from his new album and previous hit songs.
Aside from Seven, the 2006 Seoul Music Festival will feature such artists as Kim Hyun-chul, DJ D.O.C., Lee Seung-hwan, Sung Shi-kyung, YB Big Mama, Next, TVXQ and M (Lee Min-woo).
The festival is being sponsored by the Seoul municipal government and the charity organization The Chest of Love, which has also staged a campaign inviting visitors to bring used books that will be donated to the needy.

->Actor Lee Jun-ki has been cast in the Korea-Japan joint production "First Snow" directed by Han Sang-hee, who earned a reputation for producing music videos by working with famous singers including Rain and Ivy.
The Japanese Sponichi Shimbun reported Wednesday that Lee had participated in the movie's first shoot in Kyoto on Monday, with rising Japanese actress Aoi Miyazaki playing opposite his character.
Lee plays a Korean university student who moves to Japan when his father gets a job there as an exchange professor. He has a brief but romantic fling with a high school girl (Miyazaki) with a complicated and difficult family background.
The film is co-sponsored by CJ Entertainment and Kadokawa Herald Pictures and produced by Guardtec, which also produced Lee's recent film "Fly Daddy Fly."
The two stars expressed their hopes in shooting the film. "I hope this film helps improve friendly relations between the two nations," Lee said. Miyazaki, who is appearing in a foreign film for the first time, said, "I will study Korean hard so that I can speak it naturally and act naturally."
The 21-year-old actress rose to stardom through her role in "Nana," which became a big hit in Japan last year. Despite her short career, she has been recognized for her performances several times. She received the best actress award at the Festival des 3Continents in 2002 and the young actress award at the Nikkan Sports Film Award.
"First Snow" will end shooting by the end of the year and be released concurrently in Korea and Japan next spring.

->Jang Yoon Jung Vol.3 – 이따,이따요
Trot queen Jang Yoon Jung’s 3rd album [Later, later] has been released!! Jang Yoon Jung debuted in 2003 and has made several hit songs such as ‘Oh My God’, ‘JJan Jjah Lah’, ‘Flower’, and ‘Pea pods’. She will be returning to her fans this fall with her new released album and new appearance. Her 3rd album [Later, later] will have breathtaking songs, while her appearance and voice will be more of a sexy concept. Working on her 3rd album, she has finally figured the taste of singing trot songs and what kind of songs she is capable of singing. Through this album, we will be able to feel the effort she has put into for all her tracks. Her title song ‘Later, later’ is especially different from all her other hit songs she has made in the past. The song is very modern temp/bounce as we will be able to feel in the lyrics. The song is about a woman who is very impatient when it comes to love. She falls in love with a man because of his appearance and her heart wants to love him. This song is very genuine and refreshing just like Jang Yoon Jung’s image. There are a variety of songs in this album, starting from very up-beat dance songs to slow ballad songs. (Latin, Mambo, Cha-Cha, Euro-techno, trot…etc). In this 3rd album, we will be able to hear the songs that she wrote the lyrics to. Everyone is looking forward to this album and already announcing that this autumn will be a ‘Jang Yoon Jung Syndrome’.
